Kiowa County Historical Museum and Soda Fountain The Museum does not charge admission, donations are always welcome. Welcome to the Kiowa County Historical Museum & Soda Fountain.

The Kiowa County Historical Society Board meets every month on the second Thursday - members of the public are welcome to attend any meeting. We are a historical museum, educating the public about the rich history of Kiowa County through artifacts, displays, and programs. Our Soda Fountain serves as the living history portion of our museum.

The Kiowa County Museum and Soda Fountain will be CLOSED this Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.
Sorry for any inconvenience, but we will be open regular hours Saturday June 20th for Garage Sales!

Walking in here feels like stepping into the part of Kansas that still believes a counter seat and a cold fountain drink can fix a lot. There’s history on the walls, but it doesn’t feel stiff or dusty. It feels lived in.

What gets me is the pairing. A county museum and an old-school soda fountain under one roof is such a beautifully small-town idea, and somehow exactly right. You can spend a little time with local stories, then turn around and order the sort of treat that makes you feel 12 years old again.

I love what that says about this state. We do not separate memory from everyday life nearly as much as people think, and this spot proves it with every scoop, sip, and artifact. 🔗👇🏻

This Memorial Day weekend, we have pulled out yearbooks from our Resource Library to display in the museum theater room. Please feel free to look through them if you stop by the Museum and Soda Fountain this weekend during reunions!

Take home your own piece of Kiowa County History! We have a table of duplicates (and Kiowa County History Vol. 2) for sale as well! Suggested donation of $10 each. Look for the books with a green dot tag.
