Memorial Weekend is here…
For many, it marks the beginning of summer travel — maps unfolded, suitcases packed, destinations carefully planned. But sometimes the most meaningful journeys aren’t found on a map at all.

Sometimes they begin on a quiet foggy road…
where the destination disappears into the unknown,
where the curves ahead remain hidden,
and where the silence invites you to simply keep moving forward.

Maybe this summer isn’t about finding the fastest route…
but discovering the beauty of the road less traveled.

When you first look at this image… what do you see?

Is it an abstract painting?
A textured canvas layered with turquoise washes and fractured light?
A modern piece of art?
Or is it a photograph?

Are you looking down into the water…
or somehow floating beneath it, looking up through a liquid sky?

At first glance, the forms almost dissolve into color and movement — emerald, cobalt, silver, light bending like brushstrokes across the surface. Then slowly, almost quietly, the image begins to reveal itself.

Two sea turtles.
Suspended between water and light.
Gliding over coral like ancient symbols drifting through a dream.

But does the subject really matter?

Maybe art begins in that moment before recognition — when the mind stops trying to label what it sees and simply feels it. Before the image becomes “sea turtles,” it exists as rhythm, texture, mystery, abstraction, memory.

What is art, really?
Is it documentation?
Illusion?
Emotion?
A question without an answer?

I’m fascinated by images that live somewhere between photography and painting — where reality becomes almost unrecognizable, and perception itself becomes part of the experience. The ocean does this naturally. Water bends light, softens edges, erases certainty. It turns the literal into something interpretive.

So I’m curious…

With gas at these prices… honestly, I get it.

The term “420” as a code for cannabis goes back to a group of high school friends in San Rafael in the early 1970s. They called themselves the “Waldos,” and they used “420” as a secret code for meeting after school at 4:20 p.m. to search for a rumored abandoned ma*****na crop.

Over time, the phrase spread—especially through connections to the band Grateful Dead—and became widely associated with cannabis culture. Today, 4/20 (April 20th) is informally celebrated as a day recognizing ma*****na, both as a counterculture symbol and, increasingly, as a legal and social movement.
