Seems one of my external hardrives has crashed, so the original file is lost. But on pages 28-29 of the 2004 edition of the Florida Frontier Gazette Vol. 4 is the story about the 1921 Hurricane that devastated Tampa Bay. There were even more Indian Mounds in the area then and they didn't ward off hurricanes!!!

How shallow Floridians are. The only time they give a damn about the ancient Tocobaga people, who once inhabited the Gulf Coast, is when they think Indian Mounds will protect them from a hurricane. What's interesting is that most of the dozens of mounds that dotted our coastline, were used for road fill, on which we drive over every day. Hermann Trappman's Cacique Tocobaga cries for his people.

Join us for a thought-provoking discussion with Hermann as he explores the mysteries surrounding the Origins of the Gulf of Mexico. This event is happening tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM at the Unitarian University Church of Clearwater, situated at 2470 Nursery Road in Clearwater.
