We are pleased to remind you of the exhibition called *Moments that Made US* at the Gulfport Museum of History from July 3 through September 5, 2026 (Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays only from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM). PLEASE NOTE THE CLOSING DATE CHANGE!

On July 4, 2026, our nation will mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of
Independence. *Moments That Made US* is an exhibition exploring the ideals at the
heart of the Declaration of Independence through moments in our history that have
defined their meaning.

We’re bringing this nation-wide conversation right to Gulfport! Join us at
the Gulfport Museum of History to learn more about founding principles like “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness,” “Consent of the Governed,” “Created Equal,” “Free and Independent States,” and “We Mutually Pledge to Each Other.” We explore how local histories and stories were shaped by these founding principles through *Moments that Made Us*.
Don’t miss this exhibition that explores how generations of Americans have given
meaning to the ideals set out in the Declaration of Independence.

The Gulfport Museum of History is super pumped to be the venue for the inaugural Living Life Local event, a “science fair for history” sponsored by the Gulfport School District and the Harrison County School District. Over 1000 students and their families are expected for this 4 hour event starting at 10:00 AM on November 7. We can’t wait to welcome them to DOWNTOWN GULFPORT!

Happy 85th Anniversary to Keesler Air Force Base! Now home to the 81st Training Wing, Keesler is a major player in the cultural landscape of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, including the City of Gulfport.

Head to Chandeleur Island Brewing Company on Tuesday, August 25, for some Gulfport History trivia and JUUUST maybe some MahJong! Pints for a Purpose kicks off at 4:00 PM ($1.00 per pint sold been fits the Museum) and trivia at 6:00 PM. Prizes include tickets to the on-site Bloody Mary tasting during Gumbo Fest!

Mark your calendars for our September meeting where we will focus on and celebrate the 100 year history of Ship Island Excursions! Our speaker is Louis Skrmetta. He will be bringing some rarely seen artifacts from their many years of operation as our means out to Ship Island. Plan to join us on Thursday, September 10, at 6:00 PM at the Depot in downtown Gulfport (1419 27th Avenue). Do you have great memories of trips out to Ship Island?
