RCT&HS MP&RE Reading Company Technical & Historical Society (RCT&HS) Motive Power & Rolling Equipment (MP&RE) com

The MP&RE committee is responsible for restoring and maintaining the locomotives and rolling stock owned by the RCT&HS. We use this page to update its viewers on the status of our projects and to offer them a chance to provide constructive feedback. You can find project details under within our ALBUMS under PHOTOS. Restoration is a big part of the work our volunteers do at our museum in Hamburg. We are always looking for new volunteers who want to get involved in this regards. Special skills are not required as we will help you find the role or roles that will make this work as rewarding to you and it is to us.

Today was "Let's take it apart" day. Actually, we removed covers from our GP39-2 that are more easily stripped of paint using a sandblaster. That's mostly grates and grills and some of the covers that might have rust beneath them. These items will be sandblasted in October and then stored where we can paint them over the Winter, at near room temperature. We'll also be stripping paint from the other outer areas of the locomotive over the Winter, with the goal of applying new paint in late Spring, early Summer.
