Notes from the President: Karen S. Bagley

As we bask in the glow from our annual Christmas Bazaar, which earned us $ 8,500 to help the Hampden Historical Society maintain the Kinsley House and Archives, I would like to thank all of our over 30 volunteers and the more than 400 people who came or contributed to the success of this fabulous annual event. A big THANK YOU goes to the volunteers for not only the work done on Saturday, November 22, but the countless hours spent behind the scenes prior to the event. In order for this bazaar to come together it takes a village and thankfully we have many, many villagers! This involved those who coordinated the overall event, the different rooms, the set-up, decorating, organization of donated items, and the fantastic contributions made by the people who support HHS by selling raffle tickets, placing posters and signs, moving our treasures and setting up, baking, making crafts and fancy goods, as well as the numerous fabulous donations made to our jewelry and white elephant rooms. Another successful year and our best ever! Giving a big shout-out to ALL those who contributed or were involved in this worthwhile endeavor! Again, THANK YOU! Hampden Historical Society is all about our past, present and future!

Happenings at the Kinsley House and Hampden Historical Society:

We have a great crew taking care of our historic house, and they have been busy lately!
The retaining wall around the carriage house is done;
Gardening was done by Mary Kellog;
Digitalization of our inventory is going forward;
Porch repairs have been started;
A map cabinet has been purchased;
About $6,000 has been received so far for our annual campaign;
We have received more donated items for our collections; and
Our annual Christmas Bazaar is set for 11/22.

We had three guest speakers tonight and a standing room only audience! Many thanks to Sandra Boyington, John Murphy, and Paul “Skip” Howard, who gave an interesting and entertaining presentation on growing up in Hampden in the 50’s. 👏😊
