Last week city council presented a proclamation from the City of Hannibal, MO Government recognizing June 9th as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Day in recognition of the 150th anniversary. A huge thanks to everyone that has helped make this a year of celebration! Visit Hannibal MO thank you for all the promotion of our many events! At last week’s Hannibal City Council meeting, Mayor Darrell McCoy presented an official proclamation declaring June 9, 2026 as "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer 150th Anniversary Day", encouraging residents and visitors alike to celebrate this milestone and honor the lasting literary and cultural contributions of Mark Twain. How cool is that?! Twain would be proud.

The Official Tom and Becky recently represented Hannibal, The Tom and Becky Program, and the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum at the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee. Tom and Becky had all sorts of adventures in California including, visiting Mark Twain's Cabin where he wrote "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County", visiting the hotel and tavern where Mark Twain heard the original story of the famous jumping frog, walking in the Youth Parade through downtown Angels Camp, performing the engagement scene and cave scene at the fair, jumping frogs (Becky beat Tom), speaking with fair goers, visiting Angels Camp Museum, touring Columbia State Historic Park and the Diggins Tent Town, and seeing beautiful sites around the Sierra Nevada. We couldn't be more proud of our amazing Tom and Becky and the ambassadorship they demonstrated during these amazing events. THANK YOU Calaveras County for fantastic experience!

We couldn't agree more! Walk in the places that inspired some of Twain's greatest works.
