Walking Tours Are Back! 🎉

Hapeville History Walking Tour - Happy Days

Join us Saturday September 19 at 1pm for a walk through Historic Hapeville in celebration of the chartering of the City of Hapeville. Learn about the city’s history and get a chance to listen and share stories from Hapeville’s yesteryears.

This free tour covers about 1 mile and lasts approximately one hour.

Join our historian Kerum Kendall as he dives into the history of the American Civil War in Georgia. From Georgia’s role as a railroad hub during the war to the massive Battle of Atlanta and its impact on the local populace.

There will be complimentary sweet tea and cookies!

When you visit our new exhibit, "Sew Relieved! Sewing Rooms and the Limits of Work Relief in WPA Era Hapeville," be sure to pick up a complimentary postcard and stamp it with a custom sewing machine design created by artist K. Gilbert, who helped bring the exhibit to life.

It's the perfect excuse to stop by and explore.

This past weekend, historian Kerum Kendall dove into the history of America’s Bicentennial and Hapeville's connection including the story of how the train depot became a museum!
Guests also made their own depot. Check out the one with a triceratops! 😁
The highlight was the Hapeville Bicentennial quilt that was made with care and many memories.

THIS Saturday from 1pm-3pm, come to the museum and make your own train depot!
The style is found object, in which you find and bring materials from your home to create with!
Inspired by artists like Beverly Buchanan, you will take your items and create a 2D or 3D depot.
We will provide general decorating supplies like scissors, construction paper, glue, etc.

Then at 2pm, Historian, Kerum Kendall, dives into the fascinating history of America’s 200th birthday celebration in 1976 and how the idea of turning the Hapeville Depot into a museum came to be.

This workshop is free to the public. Seating is limited.

Here are some items that we will be pulling from the archives for our bicentennial program on Saturday!
Come learn about Hapeville's role in the bicentennial celebration for the country in 1976.
We will also have additional items pulled from the archives including a beautiful quilt.

Join us Thursday, July 23 at 6pm for the opening reception of our newest exhibit: Sew Relieved! The exhibit explores the significance of the WPA era, focusing on the Sewing Room established in Hapeville. There will be a discussion at 7pm to learn about the inspiration and process for crafting this unique exhibit with Dr. Anuli Akanegbu and K. Gilbert. This event is free and open to the public. No reservation required.

This event includes exhibit newspapers to take home, an postcard stamp station by K. Gilbert and an interactive fireside chat radio.

6pm-9pm: Explore the new exhibit, enjoy complimentary refreshments, meet the historian and artist

7pm-8pm: ‘Fireside chat’ with Dr. Anuli Akanegbu and K. Gilbert who will discuss the history, creativity and the collaborative process to creating this new exhibit.
