On October 18th I’ll be at the opening for the “Daughter of the Stars” exhibition at Melissa Ichiuji’s Gallery in Front Royal. I’m so proud to have three paintings in this exhibition, Women Artists of the DMV Survey Exhibition conceived by Lenny Campello in partnership with the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center. This unprecedented exhibition spans 17 venues across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. It is the largest curated group show of its kind ever staged in the United States.
Melissa Ichiuji Studio Gallery is spotlighting the creative voices of the Shenandoah Valley in this historic event. I love what she is doing with her gallery in Front Royal. The space itself is beautiful, and her curation is consistently top-notch. Beyond the amazing work within, the gallery is becoming a true community hub: art movie screenings, talks, hands-on activities, and gatherings that welcome everyone. The energy there is vibrant and inclusive. In a time when so much of our culture feels divided, this kind of open, creative space feels like a breath of fresh air. Creativity is a universal thread that ties us together, no matter our political views or religious beliefs. When people come together to celebrate art, we find common ground and meaningful connections. If you haven’t visited Melissa Ichiuji Studio Gallery yet, you should go. You’ll leave inspired...promise. I’d love to see you at the opening—come say hello, soak up the art, and celebrate the fierce creativity of women artists across the region.
