Our first post in a while, but a worthy one, of Nathaniel Owens, Ward School Class of 1966. He was the first African-American to play football for Trousdale County High School, having met Coach Satterfield and arranging to take French at TCHS in order to become eligible. He went on to become the first Black football player at Sewanee College. He was recruited by the NFL's Cincinnati Bengals, but turned it down to attend law school at Emory University, eventually becoming a judge. The entranceway to Ward School has been renovated. So far we've used primarily pics from the yearbooks but would welcome others that perhaps belonged to you, your parents or grandparents. We would return any to you after scanning. Thanks!
