🌟 Yesterday at Richton Middle School! 🌟

We had a blast working with Ms. Hudson’s 8th grade Cyber Foundations students as they dove into the world of app creation and micro:bit programming! 🖥️🤖

Special thanks to Ms. Hudson for creating such a dynamic space for hands-on learning—and to Elizabeth Phillips, USM student teacher & captain of the USM Robotics team, for leading the lessons! Together, we were thrilled to donate 6 additional micro:bits to expand their classroom toolkit and empower more young minds. 💛

Future Teachers Meet Future Teachers!

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming students from Lamar County Schools' Teacher Academy to Eagle Maker Hub!

These high school students had the chance to explore our makerspace and chat with current math education majors at USM about what it’s really like to pursue a teaching degree—and how hands-on tools like 3D printers, coding platforms, and laser cutters can bring math and STEM to life in the classroom.

We love supporting the next generation of educators and can’t wait to see where their journeys lead!

🔧 Eagle Maker Hub: More Than Just a Summer Camp

While our June camps are a highlight every year, Eagle Maker Hub runs year-round—serving USM students, educators, and the wider community through:

đź›  Senior design project support
đź’ˇ Hands-on prototyping & fabrication
👩‍🏫 Maker educator PD & workshops
🧠 Open lab access during fall & spring semesters
🧰 University maintenance-related projects

Our space isn’t just for kids—it’s a collaborative hub where future engineers, teachers, and makers gain real-world experience.

Did we mention Eagle Maker Hub supported the team that won 1st place in the Open Hardware Competition at IEEE SoutheastCon? That’s the largest regional engineering conference, with over 52 universities competing in areas like computer science, electrical engineering, and robotics.

If you’ve only seen us in summer, you’ve only seen the beginning.

🎉 That’s a Wrap on Summer Camps at Eagle Maker Hub!

Over the past four weeks, we’ve welcomed students from 3rd–12th grade into our makerspace to build robots, write code, design laser-cut projects, and bring their ideas to life.

With the help of USM undergrads, area engineering and robotics high school teachers, and Hattiesburg High apprentices, we ran four camps focused on robotics, coding, and creative problem-solving—introducing students to real tools, real logic, and real STEM experiences.

🗺️ This summer, we welcomed campers from New Orleans and Birmingham, AL, Eagle Maker Hub is growing into a regional hub for creative, hands-on robotics education.

Thank you to all the families, staff, and mentors who made this possible—and to our students for reminding us just how much creativity lives right here in Mississippi.

👏 Thank You to Our Week 3 and 4 Camp Counselors!

As we wrap up our final week of summer camps at Eagle Maker Hub, we want to give a huge shoutout to our amazing Autonomous Robotics counselors—a dedicated group of USM students and Hattiesburg High apprentices who guided, encouraged, and inspired every camper from start to finish.

This team supported students through advanced coding challenges, troubleshooting sensors, and navigating real-world robotics problems—all with patience, creativity, and leadership.

Their mentorship made these weeks not just successful, but memorable for every rising 7th–12th grader who walked through our doors.

Thank you for being such an important part of our camp family and helping us end the summer on a high note! đź’›

🚀 That’s a Wrap on Autonomous Robotics!

This week, our rising 7th–12th grade campers tackled some of the most advanced challenges we’ve offered all summer—and they rose to the occasion with skill, creativity, and determination.

Through hands-on work with Arduino-based robots, students explored autonomous navigation, sensors, logic-based coding, and real-world problem-solving. From navigating obstacle courses to fine-tuning code for precision movement, they showed exactly what future engineers and roboticists are made of.

We’re incredibly proud of the growth we’ve seen—not just in coding and robotics skills, but in teamwork, persistence, and big-picture thinking. These students are more than ready for the high school and college-level robotics competitions ahead.

A huge thank-you to our campers, families, counselors, and community supporters (including IEEE) for making this summer a success at Eagle Maker Hub.

Here’s to a future built by makers. 💡🤖

đźš— Midweek Update: Autonomous Robotics Camp

We’re halfway through our final camp of the summer—Autonomous Robotics for rising 7th–12th graders—and these students are leveling up fast! 💡

Campers are diving into coding challenges, autonomous navigation, and real-world problem-solving, using Arduino-based robots to explore sensors, logic loops, and obstacle avoidance.

This advanced camp is all about preparing for high school and college-level robotics competitions—and the creativity, focus, and teamwork we’re seeing is next-level.

Stay tuned for more highlights as these future engineers take their builds across the finish line! 🛠️✨
