The Sternberg Museum of Natural History advances an appreciation and understanding of Earth's natural history and the evolutionary forces that impact it. With an emphasis on the Great Plains, our goals are accomplished through research, publications, collections, interpretive exhibits, and educational programs created by our staff, colleagues, and community.

Today was a busy “fossil Friday” on the FHSU campus. Students from the FHSU Geosciences department and the paleontology department at the Sternberg Museum presented their research projects at the Dr. John Heinrichs Scholarly and Creative Activities Day (SACAD).

Graduate student and vertebrate paleontology collections assistant, Andrew Price, presented research about the mandibular ecomorphology of Tylosaurus.

Graduate student, Kaden Moses, presented research on body mass, locomotion and osteopathologies in ancient rhinos.

Undergraduate and paleontology research assistant, Kale Link, presented research on comparisons and contrasts between two different quarries from the Miocene Ogallala Formation.

Graduate students Jason Santoli, Gunnar Wainscott and Geology student, Ryan Funai, presented research on flood frequency of Big Creek.

Undergraduate and museum animal care/ paleontology prep lab assistant, Noah Lohrmeyer, presented research on a fossil tortoise and what the bite marks on its shell tell us about the potential predator’s identity.

We at FHSU’s Sternberg Museum of Natural History are very proud of our students and the hard work they have put into their research projects.

Well done- all of you!
