Our thanks to the Global SOF Foundation and USSOCOM for organizing this week’s superb . We were grateful for the opportunity to share The OSS Society’s mission of educating Americans about the importance of strategic intelligence and special operations to the preservation of freedom by building the National Museum of Intelligence and Special Operations. The OSS Society is planning to build the National Museum of Intelligence and Special Operations to honor Americans who have served at the "tip of the spear" as our nation's first line of defense; to educate Americans about the importance of strategic intelligence and special operations to the preservation of freedom; and, most importantly, to inspire future generations to serve. In recognition of its importance to telling the American story, Congress has designated our museum as a "National" museum upon its completion. nationalintelligencemuseum.org

Watch the film about our planned National Museum of Intelligence and Special Operations. The museum will honor Americans who have served at “the tip of the spear” as our nation’s first line of defense; educate the American public about the importance of strategic intelligence and special operations to the preservation of freedom; and - most importantly- inspire future generations to serve.

To underscore its importance to telling the American story, Congress has designated it as a “National” museum - a rare distinction.

The OSS’s Virginia Hall, the only American civilian woman who received the Distinguished Service Cross in World War II, died OTD in 1982. General Donovan presented the decoration to her himself.

When OSS received a Congressional Gold Medal, Congress’s highest civilian honor, in 2018, we inscribed CUTHBERT - the nickname Hall gave her prosthetic leg - on the medal to honor her. The OSS Society presents an award in her name.

Here’s a link to our short documentary about the women of OSS, “The Tip of the Spear: From Virginia Hall to Gina Haspel”:
