Thanks to everyone who turned out for the workday last Saturday… and special thanks to Bruce Alleman who was awarded the Volunteer of the Year plaque. Bruce wasn’t able to receive it on time, so Fleet Chair Randy Wilcox surprised him at the workday..

Randy pointed out “Bruce started his volunteering at the museum in September of 2021 helping out working on cars. Since September of 2021 Bruce has volunteered over 1,597 hours as of the end May…. with over 275 of those hours at the Annex working on the fleet of buses as well as other projects. He is a fearless mechanic.. can fix anything we ask him to, and he’s not afraid of the tedious jobs either. “

During the workday, volunteers updated our library of maintenance and parts manuals.. currently we have 877 different volumes. This accumulated knowledge is available to all our colleagues and friends who are preserving bus history.

AND… for the first time in a number of years, our 1977 GM RTS is now up and running. It had been suffering the bussy version of arthritis… a stuck transmission cable. Now repaired after months of effort, by the intrepid John Davis… it is driveable. A major portion of our fleet is now roadworthy.. a great testament to the skill and dedication of our volunteers.

Ladies and gentlemen… a quick reminder that this Saturday Sept 20 is a workday at the Annex… 8 AM to 3:30PM…

In addition to maintaining coaches, Fleet Chair Randy Wilcox has cleverly figured out that Winter is coming, and will begin preparation for bussy hibernation.

Chef Randy will also conjure up the usual gourmet lunch. It's no secret that some of you come for the food ;-)

Hope to see you there.. if you have any questions or suggestions… contact Randy at [email protected]

As many of you know, Prevost has recently celebrated their first hundred years of serving the motorcoach industry… they’ve been very active in preserving bus history. Last year they supported AACA Museum Bus Collection by displaying their restored first bus “Clarisse” at the 2024 Spring Fling.

You may not be aware that Dave Schmidt, former Chairman of the Museum of Bus Transportation and Prevost alumni worked for many months on updating and editing a book illustrating Prevost’s rich history…

According to their press release “Prevost is proud to announce the release of a richly updated photographic chronicle celebrating a century of excellence in motorcoach innovation: Prevost Buses: 1924–2024 Photos Archive.

Originally authored by renowned transit historian William Luke, the new edition expands
upon his iconic work, Prevost Buses: 1924–2002”

Congratulations to Dave and Prevost for this outstanding contribution to preserving bus history

Prevost Buses: 1924–2024 Photos Archive is now available for purchase online at the Prevost merchandise store ( https://prevoststore.com/ )

If any of our East Coast bus lovers have the time and means... the Pacific Bus Museum's annual Open House is always one of the year's most rewarding and enjoyable events.

Worth the effort to see the buses and meet their people.

Thanks to the team of 7 volunteers that spent Saturday July 12 unpacking and cataloging the Greyhound memorabilia.

We’re grateful to Greyhound for entrusting us with all these historic artifacts, documents and photographs.

They did such a good job of packaging/protecting them that our gang is only about halfway done with the task… and will finish up at an upcoming workday.

A SPECIAL shout-out to this team, because it takes some unique skills and knowledge to understand the significance of items as they emerge from 53 boxes. This gang has those skills.

While they’re only half done… they report that there is an enormous quantity of historic photographs, as well as uniforms, hats, and other memorabilia.
