Join us at Catherine Bede Gallery on October 6 from 5-8 pm during our Artist Reception - part of the Hillsboro Art Walk on First Tuesday!!
Susan Castanette will be joining us as our Guest Artist, featuring a special collection of her monoprint and collage pieces.
Here's how Susan describes her work:
"I have always been exposed to art and art materials; both my father and brother were graphic artists. In my early adult years, I practiced color pencil drawing, pastel, and calligraphy. I taught calligraphy for a few years through the parks and recreation services, and with after school classes at the local elementary. When I went to work full time, my art was paused, but never completely abandoned.
Since retirement, I’ve discovered monoprinting and collage, and really feel I’ve found my niche. I print background papers to highlight color, texture and pattern. I often use leaves and ferns from my property in my art, and I cut many of my own stencils to create the images I want. My desire is that my pieces will connect the viewer with nature, instill a sense of calm, and inspire Joy!"
Stop by during our Artists' Reception to meet Susan and find out more about her creative process!
