JUST OPENED! 🎨✨Whispers from the Soul, an inspiring collection of vibrant oil pairings by Featured Artist Theresa King and now playing at the Art League Gallery.

Welcomed by dozens at her opening reception, Theresa shares a compelling personal narrative.

She began exploring art in the 1980s, developing her practice through experimentation. “I painted a lot of terrible paintings, and figured out what is right and wrong,” she says.

Over time, Theresa worked across multiple mediums before finding her preferred approach. “I tried watercolor and struggled. I tried acrylic—it dried too fast. Tried oils and fell in love with it.”

Her work is also shaped by significant life experiences, including her journey through cancer and years spent caring for multiple family members—part of a long road toward recognizing her own innate healing energy.

During this period, she developed a personal approach to maintaining balance, acknowledging difficult emotions while intentionally focusing on what brought her happiness.

Join Theresa for two upcoming Artist Demos:

Saturday, May 30th • 10 a.m. and Monday, June 15th • 10 a.m.

Inspired by a lifelong connection to nature, King’s work reflects a sense of joy, spirituality, and connection to healing energy.

“I grew up in a chaotic atmosphere, and the only time I felt peace was [lying] on the ground looking up at the clouds in the sky,” she says.

That early sense of quiet continues to influence her work, where clouds and movement appear as recurring elements. “Nature has always been my inspiration. I could sit and watch clouds for hours.”

Over time, she worked across multiple mediums before finding her preferred approach. “I tried watercolor and struggled. I tried acrylic—it dried too fast. Tried oils and fell in love with it,” King explains.

As a result of her artistic journey, she has cultivated a distinctive style that reflects her interest in healing energy, spirituality, and the natural world—an approach that has earned her recognition among collectors and art enthusiasts around the world.

THRILLED to announce the winner of the 2026 Art League of Hilton Head Island Scholarship, Bluffton resident DANYELA FUSI, recognized for her compelling exploration of identity, culture, and place. 🎨🎓

The scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating Beaufort County senior pursuing a degree in the visual arts. The $2,000 scholarship supports emerging artists as they continue their creative education.

Selected through a competitive process that includes portfolio review and an in-person interview, Fusi stood out for both her technical ability and her distinctive artistic voice.

“Denise [DeMarzo] and Sandra [Hearn], who conducted the interview, were especially impressed by both the strength of Danyela’s work and the clarity of her artistic voice,” said Art League Executive Director Kristen McIntosh.

Fusi’s portfolio reveals a thoughtful and deeply personal exploration of identity, heritage, and environment. Her work ranges from vibrant, light-filled scenes such as A Danube De Valladolid Mexico, inspired by reflections on a rainy evening, to architectural studies like Basilica De Amor Del Madre, which connects to her Ecuadorian heritage. In Worlds Collide. Scroll to see more of her work! ⬅️
