Spring has sprung at the San Benito County Historical Park 8300 Airline Highway, Tres Pinos, CA. Stop by and visit the visitor center today until 3, where Docent Franz Schneider is ready to give you a tour of the park and talk about history!

Spring has sprung at the San Benito County Historical Park. Docent Franz Schneider will be at the visitors center to greet Park tourists until 3 PM today. Stop by and get a banjo concert from Franz while you’re at it!

You learn something new every day. Some of the 2025 native pollinator plants at the Historical Park can be seen currently festooned with this “Dog Vomit Slime Mold” (scientific name: Fuligo septica). It is harmless and will be on its way when conditions dry out. Mother Nature is awesome and has a great sense of humor.

The California quail, our state bird, is known for its distinctive plume and social nature, often traveling in groups called coveys. These ground-dwelling birds depend on healthy habitats with native plants for food, shelter, and protection, making habitat conservation in California’s state parks essential to their survival.
