Jackson County Museum

Stop at the Jackson County Museum, 4th & New York, any Friday between 10 am and 2 pm to see our banking display. The Farmers State Bank loaned some of their historical items, and the Jackson County Historical Society used items from their collection for Denison State Bank and GNBank. Also on display are artifacts from other Jackson County financial institutions, including the State Bank of Whiting, Kansas State Bank, State Bank of Holton, American Savings, and United Bank of Kansas.

These photos are in our files without much identification. If you can identify, we would appreciate that. They may not be Jackson County people. We believe these are from the 1950s. Our best interpretation of names are: Ronald Spencer, Ralph, Eleanor McGee, Jimmie Curran/Curren, Joan Townsley, Juanita, Opal, Mary Joane? and Jerry Clark. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

See Jerry Reed's displays at the museum on Fridays, July 11 and 18, from 10 am - 2 pm. Reed, a Soldier native, started making these detailed models after retirement.

FREE past newsletters from the Jackson County Historical Society. Over 45 years of Jackson County history packed in these newsletters. Pick up any Friday when the museum is open 10 am to 2 pm. For Sale: Jackson County KS atlas/plat map, 1921. 53 pages of townships and towns plus pictures and several more pages of U.S. history. Sample pages shown. 15"W x 18" H. Condition: good for its age. All of the pages are there. We have excess of these so are selling our extras. Holton pick up. $100 cash, proceeds to Jackson County Historical Society. Great addition for any Jackson County history buff.

Around 80 Holton fourth graders visited the Jackson County Museum and toured the courthouse and the Holton square on March 28 with Jackson County Historical Society volunteers serving as guides.
