Aloha Friends!

After a two year hiatus, we are back! And excited to be supporting the Hawai`i State Art Museum (HiSAM) in a new era that kicked off with the 2022 Hawaiʻi Triennial in January and continues with , Young Artist Exhibitions, Super Saturdays, First Fridays and The Vibe, a bi-weekly jazz collaboration featuring exceptional guest artists and our house band, the Dae Han Ensemble. These are FREE activities for all ages!

As a registered 501(c)(3)The Friends of HiSAM is organized exclusively to further the artistic, cultural and education programs and purposes of HiSAM.

It's a great time to join Friends of HiSAM! You can become a voting member of Friends for as little as $25 a year and support a vibrant movement to revitalize Hawai'i's art ecosystem. https://www.friendsofhisam.org/

If you haven't been to visit in awhile, HiSAM is a free public art museum in downtown Honolulu featuring exhibitions curated from the Art in Public Places Collection and student exhibitions. Located adjacent to the State Capitol, Iolani Palace, and the State Library, HiSAM is an educational teaching tool for students, teachers, visitors and the public. HiSAM has four galleries, a Sculpture Garden, classroom, activity and lecture room, and a front lawn for both museum and private events.

As a lead presenting sponsor of the 2022 Hawai'i Triennial, HiSAM displays an exhibition featuring Kānaka ʻŌiwi and Hawai‘i-based artist collaborations ‘Ai Pōkahu Press, ʻElepaio Press, Nā Maka o ka ʻĀina, Piliāmoʻo, and Tropic Editions.

“The exhibition at HiSAM celebrates the particularities of this place and is indebted to the stories of art and activism that have unfolded across Ka Paeʻāina o Hawaiʻi since the 1970s—many of which remain under recognized to this day," says Associate Curator Drew Kahu‘āina Broderick.
