Meet one of our managing artists of our co op art gallery, Christina Dauenhauer . Christina’s one of a kind jewelry reflects her time studying sculpture at The Art Institute of Chicago- it’s bold and kinetic. Whether making earrings, rings, pendants, or bracelets, the colors and combinations of her materials are so intentional and made with love. She is a fourth generation local of the Gorge, and many of her rings hold natural stones that she inherited from her grandfather. Her jewelry is on exhibit at Art On Oak, 210 Oak St., Hood River, OR, along with art from over of thirty regional artists. One of our managing artists at our co-op art gallery, is Rebecca Brochu — she creates work that is just as functional as it is beautiful, including serving ware, tiny bird vases, and mugs and bowls of all shapes and sizes. Her work glows with lovely, soft glazes. You can find an evolving selection of her pieces at Art On Oak, 210 Oak St., Hood River, OR. Each Croze Creations candle is made by Cory Hagbery, she uses 100% natural soy wax to make her products which is eco-friendly, renewable & carbon neutral.

Four fabulous Art On Oak artists are opening their studios this weekend for the 2026 Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour ! Be sure to visit the studios of Nancy Houfek Brown to see her large geometric flowers and landscapes, Rebecca Brochu for her lovely ceramic pieces, Roslyn Girdham to catch her delicate lino-cut prints, and Elizabeth See .see.5 to find her fun forest paintings. After the free, self-guided tour on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, May 1, 2, & 3, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., be sure to stop by the gallery at 210 Oak St., Hood River, OR, to see more of their amazing work. PROCESS for NEW WORK: Cheryl Quintana is in the midst of creating new work for the gallery. After she carves each piece out of clay, she lets them dry for a month. They are then fired to a bisque, coated with interactive pigments, brushed back with a toothbrush, painted with colored glazes, and fired again, this time at a much hotter temperature. Cheryl says, “Prayers to the kiln gods, all works out.” In the meantime, you can find her charming and quirky animals, people, plants, and birds at Art On Oak, 210 Oak St., Hood River, OR. FEATURED ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Heather Marlow . Heather’s lovely pastel pieces capture the seasons in the Columbia River Gorge with her delicate touch and sensitive use of color. Whether spring wildflowers or lavender fields, quaking aspens or winter snows, her original work is featured at Art On Oak, 210 Oak St., Hood River, OR, as well as prints of her paintings and beautiful greeting cards. She is also exhibiting at Pine Street Bakery through the end of May , so if you need a scrumptious treat before the gallery opens at 10:00 a.m., you can see her pieces there, too.
