The next meeting of the Ho**er Historical Society will be THURSDAY, JULY 9 at 12 noon in the society office instead of the last Thursday of July. All members and persons interested in the Ho**er Cemetery records are invited to attend as we will be discussing the maintenance of public cemetery records. I was recently asked when the first person was buried in the Ho**er cemetery and I thought I would share a little about that. In December 1904 a cemetery association was formed, and 2 acres was bought for the cemetery. The first grave was for 11-year-old Martha Bixenman. Right before Christmas the Adam Heffle family, 3 children and parents died in a fire and were the next to be buried in the cemetery. So sad the Russian immigrants purchased gasoline instead of kerosene for their lamps and their home burned.

Thank you to everyone who made our 2026 Memorial Day service so beautiful! And thanks to everyone who met to help improve people locate graves in the local cemetery using on-line or from the directory or walking the blocks.
