What is Beaux Arts? The original Beaux Arts Academy (school of fine art) is located on the left bank in Paris, across the La Seine River from the Louve,, which history dates back to 1648. It educated the most talented students in the fine art of drawing, painting, sculpture, engraving, architecture, etc. Thus the meaning of Beaux Arts has become known as superior academic art, art rendered with le

arned skills. What is the meaning of the term "Fine Arts? From the Latin phrase, "Ars longa, vita brevis", Chaucer's translation teaches us that "The life so short, the art so long to learn, thus the saying coined, "Life short: art is long". The term FINE ART is equivalent to the older French term beaux arts, meaning "beautiful art".
