Our Catskill factory is buzzing these days with sewers and summer interns, and we’re having a lot of fun with our Made X Reworked line — from stamping and embroidering men’s shirts (why carrots? why not?) to refashioning button-downs into shirtdresses, to reworking vintage graphic tees into cropped muscle tanks that fly out the door. The Reworked line is both a creative outlet for the crew and a great way to give a second life to vintage goods, in true sustainable fashion. Most of it is on our website (link in bio) but it tends to sell faster than we can post it, so take a look at what’s there or come on in and see us, we’ve got options for you in both shops!

So many gems coming downstairs from the factory for you lately! As usual, several pieces have sold before we could even take their portraits, but we’ve got a few new Zero-Waste Dresses and Chore Dresses, hemp-cotton canvas Town Shorts in black and moss, an Everyday Top in a cheerful mid-century vintage fabric, a navy charmeuse popover (so gorgeous) and two of our Leisure Jackets — one in the moss hemp-cotton and one in a red bandana print. You’re gonna love the new bags we just got in from Brooklyn designer Dianne V. 😍 They are super cute — several of them even include interchangeable straps! — and are created with real attention to the details, but she also makes them from vegan and plant-based leathers. So you’ll feel good about carrying them for years to come. Find them in the shops and on our website, link in bio!

We have a fresh little batch of Brosgé’s wonderful Picnic Tops, along with a dreamy new blue-green linen plaid version of her popular Gallery Dress and restocks of her bestselling pants. Jennifer sews all of her garments right here in Upstate NY, and the Picnic Tops are made from vintage textiles so no two are ever exactly alike. How are you weathering the heat? Our Catskill Shopgirls are coping, thanks to a mix of barely-there fabrics and silhouettes that hang loose from the body. As usual, they’re in a mix of made-in-Catskill, vintage and reworked-vintage pieces, along with small-batch accessories. The Zero-Waste Ruffle Dress in the center is a real showstopper in soothing shades of salmony-oranges (striped with blues and charcoals) and likely won’t be here long! Same goes for the Made X Reworked shirtdress and the fantastic vintage tunic from Chambers Vintage. And we’re freshly restocked on a variety of Per Lei’s perfect straw bags. Raise your hand if you love a matched set! We routinely make matching pieces of styles — whether a jacket and shorts or a top and pants, or vice versa — and we’ve taken the step of grouping the sets together on the site, so they’re now easily browsable for you. (At the link in our bio!)

As with all things MXH, a fabric will come into the studio and we ask it what it wants to be, and we also try to keep a variety of sizes of things in stock. But maybe you love the gingham set and want it in a different size. Or you can see yourself in the haori jacket but with the wide-leg pants and you want them in a different fabric and/or color. Whatever it is, we’d love to make that for you! All of our in-house designs are available made to order, so just reach out with what you’re envisioning and we’ll make it happen! If it happens to be a limited-edition or vintage fabric that you’ve got your eye on, we’ll let you know and find a perfect alternative.

And if you see something simple like right now the black linen Town Shorts are showing as sold out because we don’t have a pair on the racks at this moment, but we can make that in your size!

Hudson Valley textile artist and author is a good friend and client, and we’re so excited to host her in our beautiful Catskill shop for a 3-hour workshop this fall. She teaches only a few times a year so this is a special opportunity!

Join us this September and learn from Katrina how to both personalize and extend the life of your cherished garments and textiles through creative patchwork and stitchery, with access to a selection of remnants from our factory that will include both designer deadstock and sustainable natural fabrics, and maybe even a few bits from our vintage mid-century fabric trove!

We made three charming mini versions of our utility duffel — each of them one of a kind, and all making use of off-cuts from other projects. The rose print is a vintage mid-century fabric from our Regina Collection with a moss canvas interior; the solid/striped flax linen with lime webbing is lined in ivory linen; and the deadstock pastel flora & fauna print is lined in deadstock wide-wale corduroy. They have all the same features as the full-sized duffel — copious pockets, antiqued brass hardware, adjustable/removable straps, resizable main compartment, key leash etc — just scaled down to handbag size. And you can carry it in hand or wear it cross-body or over the shoulder with the adjustable strap. They’re on our website, or come see them in store!

It’s officially Shorts Season and we’ve been preparing for months! The factory team has been sewing our versatile, unisex Town Shorts in between other projects, often making use of remnants from larger things, so we have almost two dozen pairs for you to choose from at the moment — in a wide range of sizes, fabrics and colors. And as you can see, they are easily dressed up or down for just about any warm-weather occasion!

If you see something you like that’s not in your size (or have something else in mind) we’d love to make that for you! We do custom and made-to-order projects every single day.

We got a LOT of great new arrivals this week — among them this absolutely stunning skirt from Chambers Vintage and appliquéd plaid pony top from Melke that were begging to be worn together. The vintage Tracey Reese skirt is beyond what the photos can show. Shimmery, iridescent, perfectly shaped, with the most amazing pockets. It’s a dream of a dress-up piece but works just as well dressed down with the cute boxy top, a straw bag from Per Lei and funky flats from Calla, plus a gold MLE bracelet to play off the lurex in the skirt.
