Have you ever wondered why so many museum tours boast so many trinkets and decorative ornaments? Victorians often viewed these items as a sign of wealth, a show of educational status, and as basic entertainment. The Industrial Revolution enabled this lifestyle and introduced the idea of mass consumption. Here are some of the trinkets at the Woods Brown Mansion that would have served these purposes roughly 150 years ago!

A little more than one week until our next Movie at the Mansion. We have just a few seats left! We would love for you to join us - call (814) 644 - 7447 or message this page now to grab your seat before they are gone!

In case you missed it, on June 19th, we are hosting a private showing of Emma (1996) featuring Gwyneth Paltrow, at 6 PM. Before the show, there will be a brief tour of the first floor of the Mansion. Your $15 ticket includes movie theatre snacks - popcorn, candy, and soda!

Maybe you aren't into the period dramas for a Movie at the Mansion. We hear you - stay tuned for the next announcements of our movie showings, and leave a comment below if you have any suggestions! We want everyone to enjoy a Movie at the Mansion with a film that they would enjoy. Message us privately to learn more about renting the cinema for your own Movie at the Mansion!

A beautiful day and a beautiful house! Good news - we want to share our beautiful Victorian home with you! Come for a tour on Friday at 10 AM or 2 PM. Reservations are recommended but not required. Join us at Riverside Park in Smithfield on Saturday, June 13th for our first ever History Day in Huntingdon County! A representative from the Historic Building Preservation Foundation will be there with information about touring the Woods Brown Mansion and the ongoing restoration of Blair Chapel. We are proud to partner with the Huntingdon County History and Heritage Roundtable for this special event.

Last month, we had the honor of giving a tour to a group of individuals in the OLLI Penn State group. It was a pleasure to show them through the house and get to share with them our aspirations of preserving historic architecture for generations to come!
