Our Little Movers were on the move!

Last week, at our very first Little Movers Club, toddlers and their grownups explored movement, music, play, and plenty of hands-on fun with Jackie Martin, OTR/L. Littles practiced both gross and fine motor skills through activities like climbing, crawling, carrying, grasping, and playing with instruments—all while building confidence and learning how to interact and play alongside others.

This month's program had a West Virginia theme. Littles walked like a black bear, balanced as they traversed the "New River Gorge Bridge", collected coal, and flapped like cardinals. We ended with a rousing rendition of Country Roads.

We loved watching children try new things and connect with their grownups and new friends.

Little Movers Club is a monthly drop-in program designed especially for toddlers and their grownups. Join us on the fourth Thursday of each month for another morning of moving, playing, learning, and growing together. Next program is September 24th.

Free with admission.

September is starting with a big week at HCM — and we’re kicking things off with a Kids Pop-Up Farmers Market!

On Wednesday, our friends at Project Healthy Kids are bringing fresh food, healthy choices, and hands-on fun to the Museum. Each registered child will receive a $5 voucher to “shop” for FREE, farm-fresh vegetables from a local market stand. Children can choose what they’d like to take home, discover new foods, and pick up recipe cards to continue the experience at home.

Space for the Farmers Market is limited and advance registration is required. Grownups should reserve one ticket for each participating child; adults do not need a ticket.

Then keep the fun going Thursday with Sound Exploration, where we’ll explore musical instruments from around the world.

We’ll wrap up the week Sunday with Skylar’s Story Time, featuring a story and activity presented by PEP.

All programming is free with Museum admission unless otherwise noted. HCM is open Wednesday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
