Here's another requested reminder about The People's Artist competition.

Apparently, about 1,500 artists were accepted, and divided into 20 elimination groups, from which the top 20 will proceed as finalists.

I originally appeared fairly low within my group, but rose to 1st place during the first day. I remained at 1st place until edged out by a young woman specializing in miniature novelty witch hats ‐ no kidding – and a Persian woman who does mostly ocean-inspired pieces.

I was back at 1st place again after this, but have now fallen to spot #6 in my group of 75.

If I can at least finish 1st in my group, making it into the 20 finalists will provide nationwide visibility and recognition which might mean a breakthrough in my ability to be working again as a Fine Artist, even if that's only supplemental to my income.

Thank you all for your encouragement. And all who cast votes on my behalf, I can't adequately express my appreciation.

I leave the final outcome in God's Hand.

Hi, gang! This is a reminder about voting in the art competition I'm in, The People's Artist. You are allowed one free vote each day until next Thursday evening. (And for a donation to the Elyssium charity, you get additional votes for every dollar given.)

I've dropped from 1st to 5th place in my group of 75 people.

Looking at the works of those presently ranked above me, there are many good pieces with really nice qualities. I'm reluctant to put it into words, but in the overall scope of each person's work, I honestly believe my body of work is much better. I also believe it has broad appeal, and includes works of significance well beyond mere aesthetics.

Here's an update on the painting I've been working on lately. (Again, hopefully for it to display accurately on the Facebook interface, I've had to adjust the brightness and contrast.)

Still a lot of finishing work to be done, but it's going to be a very nice piece!

Well, it's been a very long time coming, but this piece is nearing completion. My wife asked me to accompany her to an art class she began attending a few months ago, so I (literally) dusted off the canvas which I had last worked on back around 2018, and resumed work on it. (I began the piece on October 17th, 2017.) I'll post a few photos and excerpts to the comments below, which some of you might have seen back around that time.

From my old Facebook posts, I see that I was originally calling it "Sunset Through the Palms".

Call it "artistic license", but I've since added the aesthetically appealing, but astronomically incorrect full moon – though it would more likely be a new moon in this relationship to the setting sun.

For some reason, the photo looks very dark on Facebook. I've actually had to adjust the brightness and contrast for it to show up as well as it does!

Since the redeployment of this painting, I had begun referring to it as "Tropical Moon". What are your thoughts on the titles?

Yet to come:

More work on the trees and waves, and a faint glow around the moon. But I'm pretty pleased with the way it's turning out, and it's getting near to its final form, when I'll sign it and make it available for purchase 🎨🙂
