The Earlyworks Family of Museums

The Earlyworks Family of Museums PLAY - CREATE - DISCOVER EarlyWorks Children’s Museum is designed for children as a hands-on, interactive history museum.
(493)

So go ahead - touch, climb, pull, explore! Children between the ages of 2 and 9 will have the most fun at the museum. Toddlers enjoy Biscuit’s Backyard, a touch-and-learn area designated for preschoolers. Even a 10 or 11 year old can have fun, especially if a younger sibling is along. Without a younger companion, most kids 10 and up will prefer the Huntsville Historic Depot and Museum or Constitution Hall Park and Museum.

A green dinosaur-turtle showed up at EarlyWorks wanting to come play! We let him in as long as he promised not to eat anything in the museum.

The Emancipation Proclamation began in 1863, but was powerless unless Union troops enforced it. Two years later, when Union troops reached western Texas on June 19, 1865, the last enslaved people in the Confederate states were finally freed. The date became known as "Juneteenth" and is celebrated as a day of freedom and is considered the oldest continuing celebration by the Black American community.
