On Memorial Day we honor the men and women who put their own lives on hold to defend America. A mission that can often take them thousands of miles from home, and from which a great many never return.

You'll find Captain Lloyd G. Hally on the Huxley war memorial at Memorial Park. He was an Iowa State graduate in 1940 before enlisting in the Air Force in May 1941. Captain Hally flew missions in France and Germany before being reported missing over Holland in September 1944.

Memorial Day is for men like Captain Hally and the other names on our memorial and on memorials all across the country. We are immensely proud of our Huxley servicemen and women, both past and present. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

May is Norwegian Heritage Month so we thought we'd take a moment to honor the original settlers of Huxley and the surrounding areas...many of whom went on to live completely normal lives 😆

Today is National Quilting Day so we thought we'd direct your attention to the quilt you probably walk by weekly at the 3Cs! Have you stopped and looked at all the names embroidered on the centennial quilt? That's every name from the Huxley phone book in 1982!

Who here remembers when phone books were a thing?! ✋

If this week finds you strolling around town enjoying the lovely weather, make sure to stop at Railroad Park. The amphitheater has received an upgrade with a beautiful depiction of our city's railroad history!

A donation from the Sandie Sydnes Estate to the Huxley Historical Society made this mural possible. Stay tuned for a formal dedication at a later date!
