This Memorial Day, we honor those who gave their lives serving our country.

This early American flag dates back as far as the War of 1812 and survived as a cherished family heirloom.

“One, if by land, and two, if by sea...” 🕯️

In Declaration: 250 Years of US, you’ll find an 18th-century punched tin lantern representing the story of Paul Revere.

Revere played a pivotal role in the American Revolution. He created political artworks and participated in the Boston Tea Party. Most famously, Revere alerted patriots of the advancing British troops—bravely riding on horseback after arranging for a secret signal. He ordered two lanterns to be hung in the Old North Church steeple to reveal the British route “by sea.”

In loving memory of Robert “Bob” Drexler (1930–2026), a beloved member of the Museum of Idaho community.

Bob joined MOI as a volunteer during its founding year in 2003, looking for ways to stay engaged after retiring from the INL. Every Tuesday, Bob lit up the museum with his cheerful personality and warm smile, spreading positivity to staff and visitors alike.

An Idaho native, outdoorsman, Army veteran, mechanical engineer, and hobbyist, Bob brought a remarkable breadth of knowledge to every conversation. Visitors and fellow team members alike were delighted by his interesting stories, often tinged with his signature sense of humor.

MOI is deeply grateful to Bob Drexler for his 23 years of service and dedication to the community — his memory will remain a cherished part of the museum. 🦣💙
