🐎 Quest for the West New Artist Highlight: Maeve Eichelberger

“As a first-time artist at Quest for the West, I’m excited to meet new artists and patrons and explore the museum and Indy.

My work is all about narrative and experiences. From the flowers I etch, to the photographs I print and colors I use. Each has had an influence in my life of travel, working on our ranch and reminiscing on childhood nostalgias.

I hope people feel excited by and question my work. I hope the colors and etchings draw people in and the materials themselves allow people to be more curious with the works; looking closer, imagining how was this made and of what?”

The Eiteljorg Museum is thrilled to host Carrie Moran McCleary this month as part of our Artist in Residence Program!

Carrie Moran McCleary is a fashion designer, acclaimed beadwork artist, and doll maker from Montana. Carrie is known for creating her Indigenous expression using everyday items, transforming thrift store finds and hand-me-downs into works of art that express her identity.

🐎 Quest for the West New Artist Highlight: Kevin Chupik

“As a first-time participant in Quest, I’m looking forward to seeing the Eiteljorg collection, its space, and how it interacts with the city of Indianapolis. I know how one’s surroundings play an important role in influencing and shaping an aesthetic. My own work has been molded by a lifetime of living, traveling, teaching, and art-making in the Southwest. The conceptual nature of my narrative work is a direct extension of that journey. I would hope that viewers of my paintings would gain some new aspect or insight into the world defined by Western Art.”

🐎 Quest for the West New Artist Highlight: Danny Galieote

“My work is derived from my love of the Renaissance Masters, the Regionalists of the 30s - 40s and Old Hollywood, growing up in Southern California on a small farm with horses, dogs, cats, and chickens. I was exposed to all of the love of Hollywood History, Classic Americana, Westerns, and my family's Italian roots. I always had one foot in the Country and one in Hollywood.”

Quest for the West will open its 21st Annual Art Show and Sale on September 11 at the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art in Indianapolis, Indiana. The two-day event will feature works by 50 artists and will include an exhibition of whimsical wildlife sculptures created by Quest Artist of Distinction Tim Cherry.

🐎 Quest for the West New Artist Highlight: Cody Oldham

“Growing up in the mountains of Colorado, I have always had a love of the outdoors. When I started visiting places like Glacier and Grand Teton National Parks, I knew I had found my major source of inspiration. Being in these places up close with the grizzlies, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and moose is exhilarating. Through my paintings, I want to give the viewer a unique window into this world and impart that sense of grandeur and immense scale that touches the soul.”
