Our mission is to preserve, SHARE, and interpret the rich history of the Coachella Valley; and SHARING is what CVHM is doing today!

Our Director of Strategic Partnerships & Development, Rebecca Rizzo, is at Rancho Mirage Public Library’s “One Book, One Coast” event talking about CVHM’s Japanese Memorial Garden and how its purpose is to remember the Japanese pioneers who helped build the Coachella Valley - a fitting topic for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Visit the museum during AAPI Heritage Month to learn about the Issei (meaning “first generation” Japanese immigrants) who made the Coachella Valley their home and the immense impact they had on the life and growth of our community. Learn more here: https://www.cvhm.org/the-japanese-gardens

🥕🫑 A Piece of Our Valley’s History

Next Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the Desert Sands Unified School District Board will be meeting to discuss the future of Indio High School’s Agriculture Program and its Indio FFA Chapter — one of the oldest in the region, with roots going back 50 years.

Agriculture has shaped the Coachella Valley for over a century. From the date palm groves to the farms that still employ thousands of local residents today, it remains one of the valley’s most significant industries — and a thread woven through the identity of communities like Indio.

Programs like IHS’s Ag Program and FFA have long connected young people to that legacy, offering hands-on education and a pathway into careers that keep our local food economy going.

If you’d like to learn more about what’s being discussed, the board meeting is next Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 7:00 pm at the DSUSD Board Room, 47-950 Dune Palms Road, La Quinta. Mother’s Day arrived early at the museum! 💐

Moms were on our mind at this week’s Floral Arrangement Workshop at Coachella Valley History Museum. Led by local floral artist, Nicole Trigg of Botanical Verbiage, everyone channeled vintage inspiration to create their own bouquet to take home to keep for themselves or gift to a special someone.

More floral arrangement workshops are coming in September 2026. If you’d like to receive a “Save The Date” for the next event, put a 💐 in the comments.

We wish all mothers, grandmothers, aunts, godmothers, comadres, and women who inspire younger generations a very happy . 🌹
