This is a newspaper clipping describing how the Marjorie was going to be raised after having sunk in Fourth Lake during a violent storm in November of 1902. The steamer was heavily laden with freight when it quickly sank in 63 feet of water. One of the crew members, Mr. Burt Murdock, was lost when the vessel went down. The boat was successfully raised. It was owned by William D. Moshier of the Arrowhead Hotel.

Here is old film footage of a Memorial Day parade in Inlet. Marching bands from all over Hamilton County would participate. Old Forge was involved too. The footage was captured in front of the Church of the Lakes.

Reminder, we have lots of Inlet history on our web page. In addition to a brief history of Inlet and history articles, you can scan our historic hotel registers to see who stayed here in the early 20th century. Go to our website, click on Inlet History, select a hotel, and click on “view full file”. Shortly a page appears with thumbnail page items on the left side. You can also scroll down to advance the pages. Enjoy!
