🚨 Monday April 27, 2026 with Village of Interlaken Historian Diane Bassette Nelson 🚨

The railroad didn’t just pass through Interlaken, it shaped it.

Interlaken Historical Society's spring program “Following the Railroad” brings together photographs, maps, and stories that connect the past to the places you know today.

This expanded program goes beyond the original walking tour Diane led last summer. The program is covering more locations, more events, and more of the story.

🚂 Would you sit here for a job?

This photo captures more than a moment, it captures the kind of work, risk, and daily life tied to the railroad era in Interlaken.

At the Interlaken Historical Society's Spring 2026 Program “Following the Railroad,” Diane Bassette Nelson will share images like this alongside Sanborn maps, business records, and newly uncovered stories that bring our railroad history to life. This program includes new material not shared during last summer’s walking tour.

📅 Join us April 27, 2026 at 7 p.m. in the Town of Covert Municipal Building, 8469 Main Street, Interlaken.

In 2025, Village Historian Diane Bassette Nelson led a series of walking tours exploring the buildings and businesses that shaped our community. Now, one of the most fascinating—“Following the Railroad”—is coming back in a new way as our Spring 2026 Program.

This program goes beyond the original walk, expanding from just a few streets to a much broader story of how the railroad influenced daily life, commerce, and growth in our village.

The room is handicapped accessible. Personal hearing headsets will be available at the program. We will also be live streaming the program right here on our page.
