THROWBACK THURSDAY!

Construction of the Ithaca Commons began in June, 1974. While it was considered “open” by the fall of that year, construction didn’t finish until 1975. This image was taken after the formal opening and shows the Tompkins Trust bank (formerly the Tompkins County Trust Company) on the right. That building is now home to The History Center in Tompkins County Archives & Exhibit Hall!

View more of our 100,000+ photograph collection at thehistorycenter.net/photographs or schedule a visit to our Research Library to explore in person.
