WSM’s Quiet on the Set! Youth Silent Film Festival’s Screening & Awards Ceremony is this Sunday, June 7 at 2pm at Cinemapolis!
Join us as we screen all films that were submitted, followed by a ceremony to award 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, as well as two honorable mentions and an audience choice award!
This event is FREE, fun, and family-friendly! We hope to see you at the movies! 🍿

Introducing: Martine Barnaby

Martine Barnaby is an artist, professionally trained in animation and digital arts, and a Professor in the Art and Art History Department at The State University of New York at Cortland. She owns Barnaby Creative, an imaginative design studio specializing in unique collaborative projects. Martine is inspired by mentoring students, sharing her enthusiasm for design, and facilitating her clients’ visions. She strives to work with clients and other artists who share a desire to make the world a more positive and inclusive place.

Introducing: Karen Rodriguez
☆ ☆ ☆
Karen Rodriguez is an Ithaca-based filmmaker and
cinematographer. She is the owner of WIND-UP PICTURES and a cinematographer on the Emmy-nominated film DECIDING VOTE by Jeremy Workman and Rob Lyons. She is the director of photography of the feature documentary ELIZABETH BISHOP AND THE ART OF LOSING. She has designed livestreams for productions at THE CHERRY Theatre in Ithaca, NY: AND WHAT HAPPENS IF I DONT by Iva Brda, THE WETSUITMAN by Freek Marien, E-MOTION by Saviana Stănescu and Daniel Gwirtzman, and CARBON by Pier Lorenzo Pisano. A 2017 Fulbright Scholar, Karen holds an MFA in Film and Video Production from the University of lowa Graduate College.

Introducing: Saptarshi Lahiri

Saptarshi Lahiri works as an Access Services Librarian at the OCPL Central Library in Syracuse, NY, where he formally ran the Library Makerspace. He has taught sound and video production in the Makerspace’s studios, in addition to holding instructional programs in t-shirt and poster design. In Syracuse, Lahiri has volunteered extensively at Urban Video Project, an outdoor architectural projection venue dedicated to the public presentation of film, video and moving image arts; is a board member of the Syracuse Poster Project, and lives there with his wife and rabbit.

Austin Bunn is a writer, filmmaker, and professor at Cornell University. He wrote the film “Kill Your Darlings” starring Daniel Radcliffe, which premiered at Sundance. In addition to his award-winning short films, he is the author of “Short Film Screenwriting: A Craft Guide and Anthology” and the short story collection “The Brink”.

Steve Gordon is a professor at Ithaca College, teaching film and television writing and production. Prior to that, he was Executive Vice President of Creative Affairs at Viacom Production in Hollywood, where he was in charge of developing series for broadcast, cable and premium networks.

Introducing: Joel Neville Anderson

Joel Neville Anderson is a scholar and curator of cinema and media with a focus on experimental documentary, community media, digital culture, and environmental & disability justice. Dr. Anderson is passionate about supporting emerging media artists and has served as an educator at nonprofits including Downtown Community Television Center, Museum of the Moving Image, and the Jacob Burns Film Center in addition to teaching at Ithaca College, SUNY Purchase, and The New School.
