International Museum of Muslim Cultures

International Museum of Muslim Cultures America's First Muslim Museum dedicated to educating the public on Islamic history, art, and culture.

As America’s First Muslim Museum, IMMC is dedicated to educating the American public about Islamic history and culture, the contribution of Muslims to the global community, and the diversity of the Muslim ummah. IMMC aims to serve as an educational resource for teaching global consciousness, historical literacy, and multicultural appreciation. To accomplish this vision, IMMC seeks to continue its

growth as a cultural tourism destination, serving the American community, Muslims and non-Muslims, as a research, exhibition and educational center for Islamic objects having cultural, artistic, aesthetic, and historical significance. IMMC develops educational workshops, seminars, other programs for our local and national audiences, as well as specifically design curricula for teachers of grades 6-12 and institutions of higher learning. The Museum facilitates multi-cultural and interfaith dialogue to promote understanding; reduces religious, cultural, and racial bigotry; and advances Mississippi and America's religious and civic discussions to provide a better atmosphere for working together for the common good. IMMC illustrates to the American public the diversity of the Muslim community: past, present and future.

At IHM Fest 2026, our Basket Walk competition was more than just a fun activity—it was a tribute to the strength, balance, and resilience of Indigenous women across Asia, Africa, the Americas, and beyond, who carried baskets on their heads as part of daily life and tradition. These baskets represent not only nourishment and care, but also a global legacy of craftsWOMANship, as basket weaving continues to be a vital source of income and empowerment for women in communities around the world.

Congratulations to our winner representing Yemen, who took home a beautifully curated basket filled with global treasures—Palestinian olive oil from , Medina Ajwa dates, Yemeni henna, Ghanaian shea butter, Turkish coffee, and more! 🌍✨
