Breathitt County Museum

Breathitt County Museum Located at 329 Broadway Street, Jackson, KY. We are open MWF, 9:00-3:00. Closed approximately 30 minutes for lunch.

The museum is dedicated to collecting, documenting and presenting for display, the rich Appalachian heritage of Eastern Kentucky. The museum is always closed on legal holidays and extended days connected with these holidays. There is no charge to tour the museum, however, a donation box is available near the sign-in book.

The clock face from the old courthouse has been set and is displayed on the elevator shaft at the new location of the Breathitt County Museum. The face of this clock has not seen daylight since 1958 when the old courthouse was demolished.
There is a significance to the time which is displayed. Does anyone know what important world event took place at 1:48 pm Breathitt County time?
