Uncle Story is based on Storey Littleton Parkman
Storey Littleton Parkman was born on July 6, 1872, and died on January 1, 1960, at the age of 87. Uncle Sto, as he was called by his many nieces and nephews was the youngest child, and only son, of Amelia and Jasper Parkman. He never married, choosing to live his entire life at the family’s farmstead. As a child, he lost sight in one eye after a splinter injured him while chopping wood. Despite this, he was an avid reader. Family members remember him reading to them and even sharing books. We hope to pass along Uncle Sto’s love of reading to everyone who interacts with “Uncle Story.” We invite you to visit the Fortenberry-Parkman Farmstead at the Mississippi Agriculture & Forestry Museum to see where he lived and to experience an authentic farmstead. Storytime with Uncle Story's educational program in the second Tuesday of each month. Visit our education link on our website for updated information - https://www.msagmuseum.org/education/
