Salt Lick Village and Price House

Salt Lick Village and Price House The Jackson, Ohio Jackson Historical Society is a vibrant and active organization.

We are recreating an historical "village" which will be similar to what the first settlers (salt boilers) built upon their arrival in what they called "Salt Lick Town".

The Jackson Historical Society has been continuing their work on the Salt Lick Village. We now have the Township Building up and ready for visiting, and are working on installing sidewalks to make it more convenient for visitors to see how life was 100+ years ago. There are also plans for a smaller scale reproduction of a salt furnace such as would have been seen when Salt Lick Town (Jackson) was being formed. We're excited to make this attraction for tourists and hope to have our own citizens made aware of the wealth of history in our own community.

Went for a quick bite to eat today, and while standing in line, I was asked by a large group of bikers to cut in front of them. I declined, but they insisted. As I made my way past them they all thanked me and shook my hand, each one introducing themselves. When I got to the front, they asked if they could pray for me. Said a quick prayer for me and I for them. They then tried to buy my lunch which I politely refused. Get to the counter to pay and the owner told me it was on the house. So I dumped all the cash I had in the tip jar. Was a nice change of pace to feel appreciated and respected instead of feared or hated. Thanks for making my day!!!

Hello all members! We are asking that as many of you as possible will make it to our upcoming historical society meeting, this Thursday the 18th, at the American Legion Hall on Morton Street at 6:00 pm. Mr. Dawson from Ohio South Central Railroad will be our guest and he will discuss the railroad's huge gift to us of a boxcar and possible a sidecar. It is important that he see a good attendance to show how important this is to our group, and also to express our thanks for such a generous gift. We will have Mr. Dawson first up on the agenda so that if you can't stay for the entire meeting, you can leave following his discussion. Please try to make it, and bring someone with you if you like. Hope to see you Thursday, and thank you in advance!!
