This Chevrolet Caprice is currently located within the body shop at the GMAD assembly plant in Janesville, Wisconsin. This vehicle is undergoing the Body in White (BIW) process, which is a critical stage in automotive manufacturing. During this phase, the frame of the car's body is welded together, prior to the application of paint and the installation of the engine, trim, or chassis sub-assemblies. This stage is essential for finalizing the contours of the car body design.

1961
The Fisher body side of the plant was working on these models for 1961, the Chevrolet Impala, Bel Air, Biscayne, and Nomad station wagons all getting ready for the paint shop. These cars had just finished the Body-in-White (BIW) process, where the metal parts are welded to create the car's basic frame.
After (BIW) the next step is usually painting the automobile, followed by adding other parts like interior elements, engines, and chassis to complete the vehicle assembly.
