Save the date. The Holiday Tree Show returns December 4!

This December, the historic Lincoln-Tallman House will once again be transformed for the season with more than 100 beautifully decorated trees filling its rooms with light, color, and creativity.

Wander at your own pace. Admire the trees. Celebrate with us. And experience one of our favorite holiday traditions in one of Janesville’s most elegant historic settings.

Come be part of the tradition at the Holiday Tree Show!

Each December, the historic Lincoln-Tallman House is transformed by more than 100 beautifully decorated trees, each one reflecting the creativity of our community.

A limited number of 2026 Tree Sponsorships remain.

Businesses, organizations, families, and individuals are invited to sponsor a tree and make it entirely their own. Elegant or whimsical, traditional or unexpected, your tree is an opportunity to share your story with thousands of Holiday Tree Show visitors and become part of an experience they come to explore, enjoy, and remember.

What are you doing Saturday morning, October 10?

Come hang out with us at the Rock County Historical Society for the America 250 Freedom Run/Walk.

You can run. You can walk. You can bring the kids. You can challenge yourself. You can take it easy. You can even spend a little time pretending you’re a presidential candidate at our run.

The morning includes:

10K — 9:30 AM
5K — 10:00 AM
2-Mile Family Run/Walk — 10:10 AM

But we’re planning more than just a starting line and a finish line.

The RCHS campus will be alive with music, food trucks, historic displays, family activities, and museum access. Come for the run and stay awhile.

It’s a pretty fitting way to spend a Saturday morning — moving through a historic place while celebrating 250 years of American history.

🌻🚲 Forward Motion is officially here!

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the unveiling of Forward Motion, our new mural beside the Frances Willard Schoolhouse.

The name is a nod to Wisconsin’s “Forward” motto and to the freedom the bicycle represented for women. Frances Willard learned to ride later in life on her bicycle Gladys, becoming part of a much bigger story of women quite literally moving forward. The imagery of the mural’s sunflowers also connect to the American women’s suffrage movement. 🌻

A very special thank you to Christine Hughes, and also Nancy Schultz of the Frances Willard House in Evanston Illinois for their time, knowledge, support, and dedication to helping bring this story and celebration to life.

We’re also incredibly grateful to artist CJ Hungerman, for his ability to translate people’s conceptual thoughts into this stunning piece of public art for Rock County. The mural honors a multigenerational volunteer commitment.

Also a shout out to HyVee for the creative birthday cake.

What a wonderful day celebrating Frances Willard!

Yesterday was a huge success as we gathered with community members, volunteers, friends, and supporters to celebrate the unveiling of our beautiful new mural honoring Frances Willard on her birthday.

We enjoyed a wonderful ceremony, great conversation, and refreshments as we came together to celebrate an important part of our community’s history. It was wonderful to share this moment with our community right here by the Frances Willard School House.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers and community members who came out yesterday to celebrate and support this special project.

A very special thank you to CJ Hungerman, the talented artist behind this beautiful mural. CJ brought Frances Willard to life through this incredible work of art, and we are so grateful for the time, creativity, and talent that went into creating it.

And a very special thank you to Christine Hughes for her time, effort, dedication, and financial support in helping make this mural a reality. This project would not have happened without her commitment and generosity.

We are thrilled to have this beautiful mural as a lasting tribute to Frances Willard and to be able to share her story with our community for years to come.

What a wonderful way to celebrate her birthday!
