It started with a drawer of dusty files I found at the Bradley House Museum at Jasper, and ended not far from there with the placement of stones for fifteen people I began to refer to as 'The Forgotten.' Here are the minutes from our July meeting!
The meeting of July 29th, 2025, was called to order by Darrell at 5:40 pm. Present were Darrell, Joy, Herb, Jerry, Yalonda, Travis and Robin. Treasurers report showed $8896.50 in the account. Minutes were read and approved. Yalonda motioned and Herb seconded.
Old Business: Travis and group set marker for graves at Peach Orchard site. It went well.
Yalonda handled monthly sales tax payments - $40-$50 and filed our 990 form.
New Business: Zero-turn mower has been offered for donation by Joe Cowell.
Yalonda getting information about old roads - such as Cheatham and Jefferson, etc. for newsletter.
Two board members have mentioned the possibility of not renewing their positions at the end of the year. Discussion of possible additions.
Travis's second book is in print. Dates of book signings and author talk at the library to be announced.
August schedule: 2nd - Darrell; 16th - Yalonda.
Discussion of theme for 2026 newsletter. Possibility of Western Grove/Marshall Grove or Hasty and Yardell areas.
Discussion of mining in the county.
Meeting adjourned at 6:45 pm.
