It's been a while since I've posted a pic of something I've turned. The construction of our vacation home has kept me out of the shop. However, at the Mid-Maryland Woodturners Club meeting in April, I was inspired by a bowl Keith Frampton turned and embellished, and brought to the meeting. I asked Keith if he would mind if I gave one a try, and he graciously said go for it. My bowl measures 16" x 5" and is made of cherry from a bowl I roughed back in 2017. A friend suggested I place some extra rivets in it as the space between the vertical straps was too
great for rivets only at the intersections. I do wish the rivet heads were a bit bigger, but it's a stunning cherry bowl, none the less! Even if I do say so myself! 😉

Although this bowl was previously for sale, my wife has now claimed it!

Here is an article by the Frederick News Post on this past weekend's Valley Craft Network Tour. It is so great they often showcase our event before hand as well as following up afterwards.

Moms and Dads, bring your daughters by to see my protege, Kristine Yaroschuk, demonstrate wood turning during this weekend's Valley Craft Network Tour at Contentment Turnings, 3712 Poffenberger Rd, Jefferson, MD. Your daughters will be inspired watching what a lady turner can do. Kristine will be demonstrating both Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to noon. By the way, you can tell your daughters that Kristine is also a Maryland State Police search/rescue and medical transport helicopter pilot!

On second thought, bring your sons also! They may say "if a girl can do that, so can I!"

Then from noon to 5 pm both days, my good friend and seasoned wood turner Woody Johnson will be demonstrating.

Wow, the time has come! This will be my last year on the VCN Network Tour. I'm not giving up woodturning completely, just the production turning associated with completing pieces for such an event. I'm at that stage in my life where I want to turn what I enjoy most, creating some higher-end artistic pieces and just letting the wood tell me what it wants to be. Yes, wood talks to me at times! 😉 So mark your calendars and plan on stopping by one last time during this year's tour on Nov 23rd & 24th between 10 am and 5 pm.
