The Emile Gruppe Gallery presents watercolors by local painters Joey Bibeau and Terry Boyle May 14 - June 21. An artist reception will be held this Sunday May 17th from 1-3 pm. Free and open to the public. Joey and Terry capture the rural spirit of the Vermont landscape in their works from the rustic splendor of a barnyard to a quiet walk along a brook. The gallery is open Thursday- Sunday 10-3 and by appointment.

Currently on display at the in Jeffersonville is a painting by Emile Gruppe with some historical significance. The painting depicts a group of people warming themselves by a bonfire during a Vermont winter. The figure on the right wearing the beanie with the red pom-pon is believed to be none other than Emile’s wife, Dorothy. The other figures are likely fellow artists on a plein-air excursion in Jeffersonville, VT, taking a break from their easels to warm themselves. Many of Emile’s Vermont paintings depict large beautiful American Beech trees, now hard to find in the landscape with the prevalence of Beech bark disease. Emile’s paintings are not only gorgeous depictions of the landscape, but they also provide a window into history. The last photo shows Emile in the 1930’s, likely posing for a promotional photo, as we don’t think he regularly painted in a fine suit!

Join us for “The World Through Our Lenses”, a group exhibition featuring the work of eight photographers in the Northern Exposure Photography Group, united by a shared passion for travel and storytelling through images.

This exhibition takes viewers on a visual journey from the iconic landscapes of U.S. National Parks to far-away destinations such as Indonesia. Each image captures a moment of discovery—vast wilderness, intimate cultural encounters, and the quiet details that define a place. Together, the collection reflects not only the diversity of the world, but also the unique perspectives of the photographers behind the camera.

The exhibition is complemented by travel talks that take you deeper into the regions we present. Check the Show Dates and Events below and head over to the Gruppe Gallery in Jericho!

The Gallery is now closed during regular hours until late February, but still available to visit our permanent displays by appointment (call 802-899-3211 to arrange a time). Our first exhibit of the new year opens February 26th and will feature the photography of the Northern Exposure photography group. But for now, excuse us as we hunker down for a long winter nap.🐻💤
