Now this is how you end an event! With horns blaring and bells ringing, all the locomotives lined up for the parade of engines to travel across the rails of the N.C. Transportation Museum. Excited railfans and museum visitors lined the trackside as one by one each locomotive or lash up of engines started off down the line. This video comes from our friends at the Virginia Creeper / Abingdon Branch in 1:87 scale group who set up near the start of the parade run as engines passed under the old signal bridge and travelled back towards the roundhouse. This was such an awesome once in a lifetime experience to see all these patriotic units together in one place and what a way to celebrate America’s 250th!! With the event over we now head back down the road for home as we return to our museum coverage. Stay tuned!!

Santa Fe #5704, Milwaukee Road #156, and Delaware Lackawanna #1776 pose together outside the roundhouse at the N.C. Transportation Museum as festivities kicked off for the America 250 Locomotive Celebration.

Another layout was on display in the old backshops at the N.C. Transportation Museum. This time getting some HO scale action with plenty of fun and impressive scenes along the track. One of which was this carnival scene complete with a miniature train ride to give guests rides around the carnival. While all this fun is happening, Wheeling & Lake Erie #1776 rolls past with an excursion special running around the layout. Stay tuned for more updates and videos coming soon!!

Back on the N.C. Transportation Museum grounds Naugatuck Railroad #2798 and Delaware Lackawanna #1776 took part in photo freight special. This happened a couple of times throughout the day where the doubleheader would run back and forth along the track from one end of the line to the other and back again. It wasn’t just the big locomotives getting in on the fun. During the event we once again rain into the gang from CarZ or also known as the Carolinas Z Scale Model Railroading Group and their incredible Z scale layout. This time we caught the Southern Crescent running along the line being pulled by Southern #6901. A neat thing was right near the layout, Southern #6900 was on display during the event in an instance where you could see a model in the real thing only feet away from each other. This Erie Lackawanna Railroad caboose from the TOYX Port Jervis Railroad Museum brings up the rear on the freight special that ran back and forth at N.C. Transportation Museum for a couple of scheduled runs.

Over this past weekend a huge event was happening over at the N.C. Transportation Museum. Many locomotives from different railroads that have been painted in patriotic schemes for the 250th came together for the America 250 Locomotive Celebration. Many of our members and friends took off to the museum and has many different videos and footage that we will be sharing throughout the week that we hope you all will enjoy. The first video is shot from just beyond the roundhouse where the majority of the locomotives were gathered. During the event engines would switch out pulling the museum train back and forth across the museum grounds. One of these trains included Reading & Northern #1776 on the front and Cincinnati Scenic Railway Spirit of Lebanon #1776 pushing from the rear. Stay tuned for more coverage coming soon!!

In Green Cove we find a nice shady spot to stop for a rest this Sunday evening on the other side of the bridge. Just then we see a Southern A-A lash up running back to back to lead a freight train through the countryside after leaving the yard. Stay tuned for more updates and videos coming soon!!
