We have been working hard to review and update our membership information after all of the confusion with the pandemic and we received information that one of our very faithful members Linda Kavanaugh Rolf had passed away without our knowledge. We apologize for this and we are thankful for the many years she supported the Jackson Parish Museum.

We try to keep up with special days that are celebrated and can be shared with our friends and members. Just this week we learned from Shawn Murphy and Debra Fordham that it was Nature Photography Day. It was started in 1994 by nature photography enthusiasts. The members of this organization were deeply invested in the future of this form. The museum had posted nature photography for several years without knowing of the day’s existence. The national group takes the visual beauty and then works in a conservation plan to make sure that nature remains in all of its beauty.

We have two friends who are Caney Lake residents and also travel across the United States for work purposes and always capture some beautiful pictures and today we want to share. Thanks Pat and Lisa Womack Bosch.

These photos are from Caney Lake, Georgia, and Texas.

Last year we were introduced to an interesting event held annually in our area … The Sunshine Trail and Festival … held the 3rd Saturday in June in Gilliam. They have a page that will give you all of the information that is needed. The June 2020 post below featured one of our museum youth volunteers Malynn Cooper. We send our graduation congratulations to Malynn as she begins her college career this fall at LSU! Go Tigers!

We are grateful for the return of one summer program from the library (Jackson P-Lib). If you are of a certain age and grew up in a rural or semi-rural community, you know the value and excitement of that bookmobile visit that came with a big smile and welcome from Mrs. Mary Bell, the bookmobile driver. Check out the bookmobile schedule we have included and see when it will be in your area next.

We have received our June newsletter from the Jackson Parish Library and wait patiently each month to see what kind of activities are scheduled at both branches. They always include children, tweens, and adults in so many of their monthly activities. We do so appreciate the efforts of Director Floyd A Knox and his wonderful staff.
