Here are some photos from our Memorial Day event on Monday, May 25th at the Mary Pitney House Museum.
This was such a special day.
We were all moved by featured speaker Jim Starr, Air Force Master Sergeant (Retired) and his personal stories as a POW. As well as the symbolic "POW/MIA table" and "Soldier's Cross". Special thanks to Jim's wife, Jan Starr who assisted in these displays.
Jim spoke of the many casualties of war and those who were not able to return home.
Pause, Remember and Honor.
After he spoke, the audience sang "God Bless America". This group can really belt out a tune! Thank you to all who attended.

Memorial Day kicks off our NEW WWII and military Exhibits that will be on display throughout the summer.
The museum is OPEN the 1st & 3rd Saturday and the 2nd & 4th Thursday, 1pm-4pm.

Please join us today at the Mary Pitney House Museum at 2pm as we pause to honor those who sacrificed for our freedom. After a Remembrance Ceremony with featured speaker Jim Starr, we invite you to tour our new WWII Exhibit, military artifacts as well as information on some of our local fallen soldiers.
If you have stories to share, please come by for a visit! Refreshments provided!
As proud stewards of the Milliorn Cemetery(High Pass & Pitney Lane) we have marked the graves of the soldiers known to be buried there. (pictured below)
Thanks to Linda VanOrden and Bob Biswell for their extensive research over the years, we have a brochure with information of all identified graves. (copies on hand at the Museum today 2pm-4pm)
Special thanks to the American Legion for donating the flag markers & to Bob Biswell for his dedication to care for the cemetery grounds.
