I find this piece reminiscent of Vincent Van Gogh's still life paintings, especially his many sunflower still life works. However, this is piece is in the current exhibit at the gallery titled, "A Montana Modernist View of the West". It gives us a sense of the past with the palette knife work and color palette. This piece is much better appreciated in person, of course.
