Places like Feed happen all over the world but when it happens in a place like Kankakee, Illinois it seems to be that much more impactful. Kankakee isn’t that big, about 27,600 people. We have divisions in politics, race, class, etc. like many places around the world. People came to Feed because Feed equaled 100% uninhibited love for all. People found their voices between those walls at 259 s Schuyler. Some found life partners. Some found families they never knew they had; Feed birthed a whole crew of brothers and sisters. We discovered that when We the People got together We could do anything with a little love, understanding, work, and perseverance. We made a microcosm of the world we wanted to see. We did it all in the name of art. Art unites. Art heals. Art takes a city divided and smudges the people together like juicy oil pastels; new colors are formed and the end product is beautiful. Kankakee, we love you. All that happened was because you showed up and believed we could make change. We did. We should all be damn proud of what we did. Keep that love up and shine it all over the place; it’ll resonate for an immeasurable amount of time. People Power ✌🏻❤️✊🏽✊🏾✊🏼✊🏿✊🏻
