Step Back in Time with Us at Shoal Creek Living History Museum
Stories Behind the Doors

Admission: $8.00 per person children 2 and under free

Have you always wanted to see behind closed doors at Shoal Creek Living History Museum? Now is your chance.

A guide will do tours of the buildings in the main part of town
(8 buildings in total) at the following scheduled times: 10:30am -11:30am and 12:30pm -1:30pm

**These tours will promptly begin at the Thornton Mansion.

We will have reenactors throughout the museum that will be able to discuss the history of our buildings if you're not able to attend a scheduled guided tour.

All buildings will be "open for viewing" during the entire event. The scheduled guided tours will allow for spectators to go inside all 8 building in town. (Only available during guided tours)

The Mercantile will be open for shopping. Drinks and snacks will be for sale. No scheduled skits however you never know what the town folk of Shoal Creek are up to.

To all that came to our event today, thank you for your support!! We are so grateful for you!

We will have a few different things at the next one on the 27th of this month.

**Please note there will not be an event in July.
August 22nd is the Pioneer West event. Skits with gunfire. The year being portrayed is 1866.

🏡 Preserving History, One Project at a Time.

Many visitors enjoy the beautiful buildings at Shoal Creek Living History Museum, but what they may not see is the ongoing work required to preserve these historic treasures for future generations.

Over the past 3 years, Shoal Creek Association has completed more than $30,000 in preservation and restoration projects, including:

*Repairing three historic roofs.

*Restoring the former home that now serves as our restroom facility with new lap siding.

*Replacing several deteriorated sill logs on the Crossroads Inn.

*Restoring three sides of the Stribling Cabin with lap siding and adding a front porch to help protect the original logs.

*Painting the interior of the Shoal Creek Church.

*Repairing ceilings in both the church and the Thornton Mansion.

These projects were made possible through the support of our community and the revenue generated from museum events, weddings, filming, school programs, and donations. All of these things help us to continue preserving the stories and structures that make Shoal Creek such a special place.

🚨Please read the following about our bison at Shoal Creek Living History Museum : 🦬

Do not feed the bison any food items like apples or carrots and here is why:

Bison have very specialized digestive systems, and foods outside of their normal diet can cause serious health issues including digestive upset, dangerous bloating, intestinal problems, and complications that can become life-threatening. Even healthy foods for humans can be harmful to large grazing animals when fed in the wrong amounts or too often.

Feeding also encourages bison to approach people expecting food, which creates unsafe situations for visitors, staff, and the animals themselves. Bison are powerful wild animals and should always be observed from a safe distance.
